Welcome to L.A. Gates Company. We are a professional firm offering services in Transportation, Civil, Structural, Mining and Environmental Engineering, and Expert Witness Litigation since 1985. Our roots stem from Gates Engineering Company which had a direct lineage to the E.M. Merrill Engineering Company organized in 1905 in Beckley, West Virginia.

We strive to provide the client with comprehensive professional and technical expertise to assess a wide range of problems and to develop innovative solutions.  Our engineers maintain professional registration in 17 states and represent more than 400 years of professional and technical expertise.

Our home office is in Beckley, West Virginia and we have branch offices in Charleston, West Virginia and Roanoke, Virginia.  We have 30 employees in the Beckley office, three in the Charleston office, and eight in the Roanoke office.
