EXPERIENCE:
1985 - Present
Established L. A. Gates Company (1985) and Gates Wardell, Inc. (1988) for the purpose of providing professional engineering services of the highest ethical caliber to the local and State community. Responsible for overall technical review of all Gates' projects which include design of Roads, collection ponds, dams, bridges, water systems, site developments and other structures for the mining and civil industry, government and commercial clients.
1978 - 1984
Gates Engineering Company; Beckley, West Virginia.
Involved as project engineer and project manager for all types of mining projects. Experience includes mine design and planning for underground and surface mines. These activities included the design of roads, diversion ditches, settling ponds, erosion control, reclamation, impoundments and other surface facilities. In addition to design, experience has included reserve studies, feasibility studies, economic analysis and litigation.
1975 - 1978
While attending the Colorado School of Mines, worked in Gates' Denver office as a Mining Technician. Responsible for Mining consulting projects and part-time Administrative services.
1972 - 1975
Assistant to the President, Gates Engineering Company; Beckley, WV.
Responsible for the accounting, personnel, marketing and contract functions.
This position required involvement in all phases of the organization and served as the communication center of the firm.
