Shady Spring Wastewater Treatment Plant

Description: New structures including: Headworks, Aeration Basin, Clarifier, Belt Filter Press and Ultraviolet Disinfection System. The plant treatment capacity was upgraded from 0.8 million gallons per day to 1.2 million gallons per day.

Treatment Process: The plant utilizes the extended aeration activated sludge process. The headworks includes a mechanical filter screen equipped with screenings compactor and a vortec grit removal unit. The new 400,000 gallon rectangular aeration basin uses fine bubble disc diffusers mounted on the tank bottom. A new tower-type 1.2 meter belt filter press is utilized for sludge dewatering.
