L.A. Gates Company is proud to announce that two of its recent projects were Finalist for the West Virginia Department of Transportation 2009 Engineering Excellence award.
The Grey Flats to Cranberry Creek Bridge project is a finalist in the Large Bridge category and is the next phase of construction for the East Beckley Bypass. The project includes a five span steel plate girder structure which spans over the Cranberry Creek gorge in Raleigh County. The bridge is 1,200 feet long and is 220 feet high at its highest point. The project has a construction cost of $19,800,000.
The Mill Creek Bridge project is a finalist in the Small Bridge category. The project is a three span 328 foot long curved steel plate structure which spans over Mill Creek in Fayette County near the town of Mount Hope. The replacement bridge in on West Virginia Route 16 and has an estimated construction cost of $3,300,000.
