Surveying

     Gates is fortunate to have experienced surveyors who have spent their entire working career working in surveying with a majority of the time spent construction Stakeout Surveying on both major highway and mining projects.  The main thrust behind our surveying experience comes from the Brooks brothers, Price and Lawrence, who have over 75 years of combined surveying experience. The brothers were part owners of their own surveying company, Brooks Brothers, until they joined L. A. Gates Company in 1996 to head up our Surveying Department.   They have managed the surveying on several notable Highway projects including, the I-77/I-64 Interchange near Beckley, US Route 119 near Julian, US Route 52 near Delbarton, multiple I-79 projects in Clay & Braxton County, US Route 19 near Oak Hill, I-68 near Flintstone, Maryland.

     All of the surveying work is under the responsible charge of Jay Cantley, a licensed surveyor in West Virginia (P.S. 1477).

     L. A. Gates Company maintains the latest in state-of-the-art surveying equipment from Total Stations to GPS equipment. We currently possess sufficient equipment to operate two full-time survey crews. Our equipment inventory includes the following:

-    Total Station - Leitz Set 4 ten second angular accuracy
