Transportation Engineering
Over the last 20 years Gates employees have designed 50 bridge/highway projects for the West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOH). The projects range in size from small simple span bridges to the Cranberry Creek Bridge, which is over 1200 feet long and 227 feet high. The highway projects have included major highway projects like 3.7 miles of the East Beckley Bypass and over 5 miles of the Coalfields Expressway. Gates experience also includes several prominent Design Studies like the 12 mile study of West Virginia Route 10 from Man to Logan.
Gates continued success in meeting the needs of the Highway Department is something that management and staff is particularly proud of. Gates has been a finalist for the WVDOH Engineering Excellence Award for 13 separate projects over the last 11 years.
